Hyatt Regency Hotel in South San Francisco Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport 1333 Bayshore Highway, Burlingame, California, USA 94010
The claim was that this was a four star hotel. The only thing four star about it is the price. I've had better accommodation, services, and amenities at far better rates, from three star hotels. The first insult, was the two 1-liter bottles of water sitting on the dresser next to the TV, with tags saying I would be charged $4.95 each, if they were consumed. The next was being charge for parking. Who ever heard of paying extra for parking, at a hotel ($15.00 per night, if you want to know). This is in especially poor taste, given that other nice hotels near the airport will allow you to park for up to a week free, just for staying for a single night (and give you a shuttle to and from the airport).
The Hyatt also advertises that they provide wireless internet service in the rooms here. But they fail to mention that if you want to use it, you have to pay additional charges (another $10.00) - incidentally the hotel does NOT provide the service; Tmobile does.
The room service menu prices were obscene, but largely because the quality of the hotel food was rather terrible (read below for details). If you want a grapefruit in your room for breakfast (a single grapefruit), it will cost you about $10.00. We bypassed this option, but tried the hotel food at breakfast in their cafe in the "Atrium". The fare was what you'd expect from any company or school cafeteria, except that the cut fruit was nearly tasteless. Again, this is a FAR CRY from what I'd expect from a claim of "four stars".
I found the fitness room to be tiny and cramped. The pool was small and outdoor only. The locker room shared by the pool and fitness room, only had a single shower (at least in the men's locker room).
You know, this Hotel was clean and well kept. The people were courteous, though not accommodating. But ALL of the items above show it is no where near a 4-star rating.
You can get a room there for about $100.00 for one night. If you have a car, it will be $115.00. If you drink a bottle of water, that's $120.00. If some modest room service or breakfast, it will be about $135.00 + tax + tips. If you expect 3-star accommodations and this is ok, go stay there. If you expect better, you may be disappointed.
