Hi,


I have had a Providian card for 7 years now. Pretty much every other month

they send me a letter increasing my credit line. Pretty cool of them. Then

last month, I missed a payment, I live in Florida, and was adversely

affected by the hurricanes. I called them, and they said my county was not

on the list of those considered a disaster area. I guess no power for 13

days and severe flooding wasn't good enough. Anyhow, I missed a payment,

and today I got a letter in the mail saying they were reducing my $11,000

credit limit to $2,000, almost $10,000 drop!!! They state in the letter that

it is due to Delinquent payments. I called them, and they said they review

accounts monthly, and that it had to do with my credit report. I told them

that's not what the letter says, but got nowhere. I am considering paying

off my balance and closing the account, just on principle, but really would

like to see if there are other options.
