Let me begin with August 2002 when my daugter started college in Kalamazoo Michigan. The folks at Authorized Cellular in Roseville said I should switch to the Americas Choice Plan so we could communicate with our daughter with out long distance or roaming fees. We were told that Kalamazoo was covered in the plan. When my daughter arrived at college it was found that only roaming worked in Kalamazoo. I went back to Authorized Cellular to get the plan changed back. They said they could do nothing I had to contact Verizon. Verizon said they could not give me the old plan, they did not offer it anymore. When I informed them that I received this plan under false pretenses they agreed to change it. The plan was never changed. This scenario played out four more times. I finally gave in and decided to wait out the 2 years (August 2004).

In late February of 2004, I received a letter from Verizon that they were changing my plan. I could no longer have long distance included in the plan. This is mainly what we did use it for. The contract stated that we could cancel if they changed the plan and it did not work for us. I called and cancelled. The cancellation was effective the next day which was the last day of the billing cycle. Late march I recieve a bill charging me for another month of service. I called and was told that my service was not cancelled. They kept trying to talk me into a different plan. I said no and that I had already started service with Cingular. They promised me a confirmation of the cancellation in 5 business days. That was over a week ago. I think that this is not done yet from all my past experiences.

Either Verizon has severly flawed business processes or a requirement of employment is to be severly inept. I suspect that it is both.
