Whitehall Jewelers Whitehall Jewelers... I had my 2 carat vintage diamond ring repaired at their store in the Harlem Irving Plaza @ two years ago...First, they cut the shank and left it un repaired, second they had to replace a diamond, thirds they failed to shine the ring. Prior to me leaving the ring their for repair, I specifically asked them can they handle a repair like this. The ring itself it over 33 years old. They assured me that it nothing out of the ordinary. "They could handle it". This ring is worth over $7000.00 and is a family heirloom, I assured by the store manger that they could handle they repair, "we see stuff like this all the time". First, when I received the lady, could not find any record of my ring. Second, when she found it said she needed the payment first, which was over $500.00, I paid in cash. Then I inspected the ring, the shank was cut the main diamond was chipped, and it was not polished. So I complained and she, "Could not do anything for me, it was an old ring what do expect". I then demanded to see a manager. I was then told she was it, i them asked for the District Manager number to which she refused. I ended calling another store for the #. Needless to say it took four weeks for him to call back, I live in Chicago. He then told me I would have to go Golf Mill in Skokie in order for him to see then ring. So I did. He repaired the ring in front of me..but prior to that he and the DM told me reset the diamonds and proceeded to try to sell me a new setting. I received no apology and had to pay for the unnecessary repairs. They tried to compensate me by offering a discount on the new mounting. I did not accept. Two months latter, the tiny diamond that Whitehall replaced fell out. I ended spending another $625.00 on further repairs, apparently Whitehall Jewelers are not familiar with antique platinum rings they had loosened the 2 carat diamond setting, resized the ring using white gold not platinum, loosened all the diamonds. The ring has not been the same since, it has been two years and I still am fighting with that DM and Whitehall store.....This is a warning to all.!!!!!!!!!!!
