American Driving Academy

American Driving Academy December 16, 2005 Today December 16, 2005 I am filing a formal complaint against the American Driving School. I feel that they are trying to scam me out of money. I paid the $200 fee for the educational classes. I attended for two weeks and passed the class. I was than told to schedule 3 driving lessons with the secretary. I finished the class in august, but did not get a driving appointment until December. Before December, I tried repeatedly to schedule a driving lesson, but the secretary informed me to call back later at three o’clock or in 30 minutes. She did this on several occasions. I was beginning to feel that she was incompetent and did not want to schedule me. On December 16, 2005, I called to reschedule an appointment and as soon as I said my name the phone hung up. Of course I was the one to call back and say we got disconnected. My complaint with the secretary is she did not treat the customer (me) in an appropriate manner. I think the secretary purposely hung up on me, but I can’t prove that to be true. I tried to tell the boss this, but was not taken seriously. According to the boss the secretary should have informed me that I owe $50 to the driving school for a cancellation of an appointment. However two things do not fit into this equation. First of all, the secretary did not call me to tell me I owed more money. Also I do not owe $50 to the driving school because I did not cancel any appointment. You are only billed if you cancel your appointment. The only person that cancelled an appointment was the boss himself. He called me on December 15, 2005 to cancel my driving lesson due to the snowing weather, he told me to reschedule with his secretary the next day. His complaint is that I was scheduled for a driving lesson earlier in the month but did not answer my phone and so they cancelled my 3 appointments. My complaint is that no one called me to tell me that my first appointments were cancelled. In fact on the day of my first scheduled appointment I was so excited to finally get a driving lesson, I called the school at least an hour before the scheduled time to inquire if I have to walk there to meet my instructor, or ask if they would pick me up. I left them a message because no one answered the phone. The secretary should have received this message. Again a sign that the secretary was incompetent or there was miscommunication because this was the day of my driving lesson. Another complaint is that the boss treated me in a very rude manner. As we argued about the payment of $50 our voices escalated and we both became angry. He was angry enough to throw me out of his office using the words “Get the hell out of my office,” he told me he was going on vacation and I could talk to his lawyer and he cancelled my 2 driving lessons. Before I left the uncomfortable office, I asked him his name, and he told me to write it down. I tried to write it down, but his name was to difficult to pronounce so I asked him to spell it for me and he responded in a very rude, angry tone he snatched the post it from me and signed his initials on the paper. Throughout the ordeal I did not have a witness, but rather I felt ganged up on because the only people in the room were the boss (I don’t know his name, because he didn’t give it) and the driving instructor (I did not have any problems with the driving instructor). Since my driving lesson is cancelled (by the boss) and I was treated inappropriately (by the boss and secretary), I feel I am entitled to some sort of refund. I do not want to deal with the American Driving School, because I am very disappointed in the way that the company treats its consumers.
