Les Scwab Tire Center in Antelope CA

I went to Les Schwab Tire Center in Antelope, CA on October 31, to get an estimate on replacing the two front tires on my 2002 Dodge Stratus. I told the clerk I intended to replace my car in February so wanted to put the least expensive tires possible on the car. She verbally quoted me "$159.70 out the door". Based on that estimate I agreed to have the tires installed. The clerk printed out the estimate, folded it in half and with the top portion facing down, presented the lower portion to me for signature authorizing the installation. When the work was completed I was charged $257.90. When I explained that was not the price I was verbally quoted, it was pointed out to me that the estimate I had signed was indeed $257.90. I believe I was the victim of fraud and deceit and requested to speak to the clerk who had given me the estimate. Instead the clerk went to the service bay and the next thing I knew there were 4 service technicians surrounding me telling me there was no way I had been quoted $157.90. I am a woman who weighs 95 lbs and certainly not enough of a threat to require 4 men to bully me into submission. At no time did they ask the other clerk what she had quoted me and when I insisted that they call her over to question her, I was told they knew she hadn't given me that quote. I have to accept some of the responsibility because I certainly should have looked at what I was signing, however, never in a million years did it occur to me that a business right in my own neighborhood would perpetrate such a fraud and deceptive business practice on the very people they hope to have as recurring customers. By the way this whole thing played out, it leads me to believe that they have pulled this routine successfully many times. Had I been given the $257.90 quote verbally I would have thanked the clerk and gone to Big O Tires and the American Tire Store to get an estimate. Their unfair business practice robbed me of the opportunity to make an informed decision. When I went on the Les Schwab website to complain I discovered that Les Schwab does not even have their corporate office address listed nor a website to contact anyone. No wonder they keep winning so many awards for customer service, they can honestly state they have received no complaints.
