I bought an item on Overstock.com for $561 as a Christmas gift, 11 days before Christmas. The seller required payment through BidPay. I went to BidPay, set up my account and made payment with a credit card that had a massive unused line available, over 40 times the amount of the purchase. When I went to make the payment, I saw they were going to charge me a $20 fee. Since I wanted the product I completed the payment transaction. Then, I got an email from BidPay about 5 hours later saying they were processing my transaction and I would hear from them later, and they said sometimes it takes up to 24 HOURS for them to "verify" a payment. You can check the status of your order on their web site by logging into your account. When I did that (repeatedly), I saw that my credit card processing was completed successfully, but the final transaction approval was "pending". Then, OVER 48 HOURS later, I got an email saying my payment was not approved by them, and they gave no reason for it. They list no phone number on their web site. They have some type of help assistant that when you say you have a problem, you have to send them an email through their site. I did that several times and got no response. This service is pathetic and poor. This was a Christmas gift that got messed up because of their terrible handling of what should have been an easy transaction. I will NEVER EVER again buy anything where I have to pay through BidPay. I would encourage EVERYBODY to stay away from BidPal. After over 200 uses, I have found PayPal to be much better and almost instantaneous with their confirmation of payments. BidPay is flat out poor.
