Best Price Camera
Brooklyn NY
Canon SD450 was advertised on their Internet site for $245. I placed
an order, but had to call salesman before they would ship. Saleman
offered several optional accessories all of which I refused except
for an extra battery. (It turns out that he lied about the battery
that comes with the camera. He told me it was only a 15 minute
battery & I should buy a 4 hour battery. In fact, the battery Canon
ships is a 4 hour battery and the extra battery he sold me for $69 is
not even a Canon.) But even accepting the battery, my charges should
have been $249 + $69 + $15 shipping. Camera arrived and I was billed
$405 and bill showed "Starter Package Deal." When I called Customer
Service, I waited on hold for 10 minutes. When they answered they
transferred me to Billing where I waited again for 10 minutes. When
John finally spoke with me, he said I had requested the "upgrade."
That the camera as advertised did not come with anything but the
camera body -- no cables, software, documentation, etc. When I tried
to argue that I did not authorize an upgrade, he threatened to put me
on hold for another 10 minutes. Canon does not package or sell this
camera without the cables, software, documentation. Chris, the
salesman, never offered an upgrade. The only extra charge we
discussed was the $69 battery. This company makes a point of putting
very little in writing or email so it is difficult to anticipate this
scam or challenge the charges. I obviously should have done a search
on this company before doing business with them, as since this
happened I have found similar complaints about them on bulletin
boards. My bill should be adjusted to $333. I could have bought this
camera online for less than $300 and the non-OEM battery they sold me
for $15. But I would be satisfied with what I agreed to.
