I went to Sears in Lincoln Mall to purchase a microwave. It appears that the service became a big problem for these people that were working in this store.; I wanted a white microwave and wanted a Sharp as that was what I had and was very happy with it. The woman said they did not have any white Sharp microwaves so I looked at a couple of other microwaves but decided I would take the black Sharp.
I wrote a check for my purchase and proceeded to leave the parking lot when I realized that the sale price for the Sharp microwave was $99.99 however the amount the woman sold it to me for was $109.99 plus tax. I thought that the tax on the $99.99 was very high as the total came to $118.51. I proceeded back into the store and explained the situation and the woman said that I needed to go back out to the car, get the microwave and bring it back into the store. She said that she could void out this microwave and then Sears would send me the difference from the original cost and the check that I had written. First of all, she made the mistake by selling me another microwave and giving me the $99.99 Sharp. She then called someone about how my refund would come and when it would come and that person didn’t know. Is this a scam? If enough people are scammed, a person could make a haul in one week.
I brought the microwave back into the store and being 68 years old, it was very difficult getting this big box out of the trunk and taking it back into the store. There was no one in the Customer Service area to help me. When I brought the microwave back to this woman, she then had another woman with her and was telling her that I changed my mind and took the wrong one. First of all, I did not change my mind and secondly, I wanted the BLACK Sharp microwave. By the way, it took me longer to buy a microwave with 3 salespeople than it did to buy a set of tires, have them installed and an alignment with one salesperson. I had the tires installed at the Sears store at Orland Square and was very pleased with the service
I do not plan to shop at the Sears store in Lincoln Mall again..
I am not happy with Sears.
